  1. I suspect a very young person could not have written this poem. It takes a certain amount of laughing and loving before picnickers become aware of the open grave…. Don’t you think?

  2. Yes, and that is probably a very good thing. Though young people – and children – do suffer from night fears, they are far more easily comforted, more ready to believe in “daylight, daytime, sunshine, laughter, love” – and that, of course, too, is as it should be.
